Cultureland Artists 2017 – CLAUDIO BEORCHIA

IN THE POLDER, REPORTING FOR
THE SOUTHERN GODS

Claudio Beorchia, *1979

The project is a reflection on the water landscape of polders, an environment extremely different from the Italian landscape Claudio lives in. This reflection is developed through a fiction: Claudio imagines himself as a hypothetical reporter sent by the Southern gods to discover this territory created by man.

Claudio Beorchia (1979) is a visual artist intrigued by the complexities of the surrounding world, that make human beings feel vulnerable and powerless. People often unintentionally create these situations themselves, whilst trying to be in control. Claudio tries to draw attention to these aspects using multiple media and materials to deeply and directly involve the observer.
